Bio

Taliesin Beynon (or Tali for short) is a self-taught South African computer programmer, who got hooked on computers when he was barely a teen. He dropped out of high school to work on his own projects. Finding his way back into the educational mainstream at college, he earned an undergraduate degree in math and physics, and went on to complete an honors program in pure mathematics at the University of Cape Town.

He is currently working as a software engineer, but hopes to make his way back to the world of basic research, probably in the fields of machine learning and evolutionary computation. He enjoys reading, listening to avant-garde electronic music, and tinkering with all things electronic and mechanical.

Project: Multiheaded Mobile Turing Machines

This project will explore the behavior of multiheaded 2D Turing machines. Each Turing machine will be capable of cloning itself upon discovering a special symbol on the 2D tape. Of particular interest is the space-filling behavior of the Turing machines, and how it might relate to animal scavenging.
