Zdeněk Buk

Bio [2009]
Zdeněk Buk was born in 1981 in the Czech Republic. He got his master's degree in electronics and computer science & engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague in 2005. He works as an assistant professor and researcher in computational intelligence at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering FEE-CTU Prague, where he joined the computational intelligence research group in 2002. His research focuses on methods of computational and artificial intelligence, mainly on artificial neural networks and evolutionary techniques.

Project Title
High-Dimensional Cellular Automata for Neural Networks Encoding in Genetic Algorithms

Project
This project is to study the behavior of high-dimensional (mainly 4D) CA and their application for encoding neural networks into chromosomes in evolutionary algorithms.

The project can be divided into particular steps:

1. Develop some method of visualization for studying the behavior (evolution) of the 4D CA.
2. Extract the network topology from the CA, i.e. using the CA as a chromosome encoding the neural network.
3. Simulate evolution of the CA and networks using genetic algorithms.
